Jalyn St. Louis Commits to Ontario Tech University
The Central York Panthers would like to congratulate our 2022-23 Jr Panther Jalyn St. Louis on her commitment to USports OUA Ontario Tech University Ridegbacks women's hockey for the 2023-24 season. Jalyn exemplifies what being  a Panther is all about. Jalyn is always positive, supportive and highly inclusive of her teammates. She leads by example through her tireless work on and off the ice within the Central York community. We are delighted to be able to make this announcement for such a prominent and passionate Panther!

(March 10, 2023 Aurora, Ontario) – The Central York Girls Hockey Association are pleased to announce that their 2022-23 Jr Panther Jalyn St. Louis has committed to play USports OUA Women’s Hockey for the Ontario Tech University Ridgebacks in Oshawa, Ontario for the 2023-24 season.

Jalyn has been an integral part of the Central York Panthers at every level. Her teams have won gold at the OWHA Provincials three times and have been top contenders every year. Over the years of being a Panther Jalyn has inspired her teammates with her  passion for the Panthers and love for the game. As a goalie she has always taken on a huge role with her teams and assumes a lot of personal responsibility for how the team performs. We all know that it takes an entire team to win but Jalyn has always held herself to a higher standard of performance and this has made her a favourite amongst her coaches and teammates over the years.

Jalyn has always been someone that keeps a lot of her thoughts to herself. She never points out someone’s faults but rather looks inward and expects more from herself. It is her team first attitude that has always made her the person and player that she is. This year with the Jr Panther program Jalyn has really taken that team first attitude to another level and has worked to develop her leadership qualities to become even more of an impact with her team. She is now showing everyone that “the sky's the limit” for her as she keeps pushing new boundaries with her abilities on the ice and in the dressing room. Jalyn has developed into a force between the pipes and is one of the top goalies in the #1 Junior league in the world, the OWHL U22 Elite League.

Jalyn really loves being a Panther, “I’ve always been a Panther; it’s what I know, it’s who I am. Being part of the Panther association since Novice has impacted me in so many ways. I have made some really good friends and had great coaches over the years. They have all impacted me so much and helped to make me the person that I am today. I’m excited about my future and proud of where I am coming from. This year in Junior my coaches and teammates have pushed me even further. I feel even more confident about my game and who I am as an individual. I am more aware of how much the act of giving back helps younger Panthers in the association believe in themselves too. In the end it’s about leaving the jersey in a better place and I know that this season I’ve learned more about that aspect. I want to thank Coach Steve for believing in me as a player and a person to back the Central York Junior team this season”.

Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Head Coach Justin Caruana was very excited about this signing. “Jalyn is a very calm goalie in the net. She tracks the puck well and battles hard on any second chances. I am excited to add Jalyn to our program and I can’t wait to work with her next fall”, said head coach Caruana.

Central York’s  Junior Head Coach Steve Dempsey was quite affected by this signing. “Jalyn is an amazing person and a great Panther. She loves being a Panther and has been such a great ambassador for the Panther organization over the years. On a personal level I have known Jalyn for a long time and it is always sad to see a friend leave you. But I know this has been a dream of Jalyn’s for a long time and I am so happy for her. Jalyn is one of those players that you never replace. You cherish all of the time that you had with her and you look forward to seeing her start the next chapter of her life and cheer her on. Being here to help these young people realize their dreams is such an honour.”

Jalyn is scheduled to start the 2023-24 season with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks in September 2023.
