Central York Panthers - U15AA - 2022-2023
Thank you to all the players for their efforts in the U15AA tryouts. The team has now been selected and we are very excited to start on our journey to make this a very special year.
U15AA Team Overview
We are looking forward to the upcoming season. Below you will find information about how the U15AA team fits into the Central York Panthers High Performance program, the season overview, our team culture, our coaches and the cost for the program.
Panthers High Performance
Central York has developed the Panthers High Performance program for hockey players competing at the highest levels. Details of the overall Panthers High Performance program are posted under the Representative drop-down on this webpage and at this link:
Panthers High Performance Program Overview
U15AA is one of the middle teams in the Panthers High Performance program. In that position our staff have the responsibility to help players develop and perform at their highest abilities and ensure they are ready for future years under the Panthers High Performance program. We will be working with the Panthers coaches at higher levels to ensure our development plans this year align with future programming to create a pathway for players to excel in their development with the Panthers.
Our program is built on the principles Hockey Canada’s Long-Term Player Develop expectations including core skills matrices and developmental progression. These guidelines have been expanded and detailed for the Panthers High Performance program.
To broaden our approach for the development of our players we are considering the following four broad development areas, with examples of the topics under each area shown below:
U15AA Development Areas
As a starting point, we will build player profile documents and individual development plans for our players. These will record the player’s background, strengths and needs related to hockey. These documents will be updated through the year and move forward with the players as they move through the Panthers High Performance program.
To involve the players in this process, they will complete self-assessments and participate in the setting of development goals for the short term and long term.
"Here at Central York we make sure that players goals and player habits align. You can dream about being high performance but if your habits do not align then it won't work."
As we focus on individual development, we will also be building a team for success through a unique, accountability based, family like, positive team culture. We will spend a lot of time throughout the summer and into the season working on our team culture. The family environment that we have created here at Central York is something that really sets us apart from other organizations and seems to attract like minded families and athletes.
Season
To put our planning into action we will be implementing the following season plan:
- Summer on and off ice training program that includes on ice skill development, off ice speed training, team culture creation and mental skills
- Team Practices – Expect at least two per week (days to be determined)
- Call-up Practices to Upper Teams
- Association Skill Development Sessions
- Exhibition and Season Games
- Tournaments (Planning to attend several Showcase tournaments as well as one fun tourney)
- Playoffs and Provincials.
We will also host some team social events and participate in community / charity activities. As an older high performance team we will spend time this year mentoring younger Panthers.
For the upcoming season the coaches and players will be held accountable to their actions and habits. Everyone involved will be expected to be ready to give a focused, intense, and high level of compete through a consistent and strong work ethic. This will require players to perform at a high level and spend most of their time outside of their comfort zone.
Staff
The U15AA program will include the dedicated efforts of the full-time coaching staff plus the assistance from guest coaches on an occasional basis.
The U15AA coaching staff profiles are posted under the Representative drop-down on this webpage and at this link:

Cost
A team budget will be developed following tryouts and presented at a team parent meeting. The estimated cost of the program is $4,000 per player (including the $500 registration fee paid via RAMP). Any sponsorship or fundraising organized by the team could reduce this amount or allow for additional programming. These fees cover costs including but not limited to ice time, referees, timekeepers, tournament entries, additional ice/clinics and team administration.
Player fees do not include tournament travel expenses (meals/hotels) for the players and families. Some Panther apparel is provided with the association fees and additional Panther apparel items will be at additional cost.
If you have any questions or inquiries about this or any of our programs, please feel free to reach out to me.
