ABBY LUNNEY Selected to TEAM CANADA U18 Team
(December 19, 2022 Aurora, Ontario) – The
Central York Panthers are thrilled to announce that our very own 2022-23 Jr
Panther Abby Lunney has just been selected to the Team Canada U18 team for the
upcoming IIHF U18 World Championships in Sweden!!
Following a prolonged process that involved an 11-day selection camp back in the summer, a series of games against both Finland and the United States, and finally a game play observation process that lasted several months. Abby ultimately passed all of these challenges with flying colours and showed Team Canada that she is someone that they would be proud to have wear the Maple Leaf logo on her chest.
Abby has been dreaming about this opportunity for as long as she can remember and she has dedicated herself to her training over the past few years. Something like this does not happen overnight. It takes years of work and Abby is a great example to our Panthers that anything is possible. Abby has been a Panther from Fundamentals all the way to her current position with the Jr Panthers. Abby is the first player to have that unique distinction. The Panthers have had several players make the Team Canada U18, U22, or National Team but none have been lifelong Panthers from start to finish. This makes her accomplishment that much more special and relevant to our Panther community.
We are so proud Abby!!
