Congratulations Jordanna Connors - University Commitment
Submitted By Stephen Dempsey on Fri 12 18, 20
(December 17, 2020 Aurora, Ontario) – The Central York Girls Hockey Association are pleased to announce that their second year 2020/21 Jr Panther, Jordanna Connors, has committed to play USports Women’s Hockey for the Nipissing University Lakers in North Bay, Ontario for the 2021/22 season.

Jordanna  has excelled in her limited time as a Central York Panther. In just over a year she has developed her game at both ends of the rink and is now a top tier player in the highly competitive  PWHL. Jordanna  helps to anchor one of the strongest defensive units in the top Junior women’s hockey league in the world.

Jordanna  has  combined her outstanding defensive  abilities to shut down the top players in the league with her newly developed offensive  abilities to create scoring chances for her team on every shift. Jordanna looks to join the rush at every opportunity and use her punishing shot along the offensive blueline. Jordanna’s play creates a two pronged attack for the Central York Jr  Panthers between the  forward and defensive units.

“The past 18 months has been a wonderful experience for me with the Panthers organization! They have taught me to always work hard for my team and put the team first. The coaches have taught me to keep believing in myself and keep looking for ways to grow as a person, a teammate, and as a player. Getting this chance to play for the Nipissing Lakers is a dream come true. I can’t thank the Panthers enough for helping me to get to this point. I will always be a Panther no matter what”, Jordanna Connors stated.

Known as a highly competitive, passionate player who plays with an unparalleled level of compete. Jordanna is counted on to play against the top units from the other teams in the PWHL night in and night out. She helps anchor a strong defensive unit and adds to the team offense with her shot and decisions along the offensive blueline. Her  leadership traits have helped to create a team first culture in the Panther dressing room over the past two years.

Darren Turcotte, Head Coach of the Nipissing University Lakers stated, “we are so excited to add Jordanna to our incoming class. She plays a tough  game and is a player that will make it tough for the opposition to play against. Her offensive game will continue to grow but she possesses a shot that will create scoring opportunities for us.”

Central York’s U22AA Head Coach Steve Dempsey was thrilled to hear about the commitment.“ We will really miss Jordanna bu t we  are  very  happy  for her. She  has  helped  us to build our program here and create a team first culture.

Jordanna is a great ambassador for our team and makes coming to the rink a pleasure everyday. She works hard every practice and has really fit in with our offensive and defensive system here. She has really blossomed in the past six months and has a ton of confidence right now. Her knowledge of our systems has allowed her to take her game to the next level. Jordanna is playing at the University level right now”.

Jordanna is scheduled to start the 2021/22 season at Nipissing University next fall.
