We are so happy and proud of her. Post has just added a real game changer!

(May 18, 2023 Aurora, Ontario) – The Central York Girls Hockey Association are thrilled to announce that their 2022-23 Jr Panther Jodie Rose has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Women’s Hockey for the Post University Eagles in Waterbury, Connecticut for the 2023-24 season.

Jodie has been an essential part of the Central York Panthers family for the past 3 years and has immersed herself into the Panther culture. Jodie headlined a strong defensive unit this past season that boasted several Team Ontario High Performance players and was geared to play a fast, upbeat style of hockey that prepared these players for elite hockey opportunities. Jodie is a natural athlete who has always excelled in any sport that she dedicates herself to. Known for her athleticism and being a multi-sport athlete, Jodie has shown that she can balance her demanding athletic workload and still excel in the classroom. It is obvious to anyone that knows Jodie that she loves hockey and wants to be the best she can be. Her passion and determination have been the qualities that have separated Jodie from others. Her level of compete has influenced so many of her teammates over the years. Jodie brings out the best in everyone around her both on and off the ice. Whether it is on the ice or off the ice you can always find Jodie spending time with her teammates and developing strong personal bonds that will last a lifetime. It is this type of behaviour that has helped to build a strong Panther culture.

“I can’t thank this organization enough for helping me grow both as a player and person. I am thankful for every coach and staff member at Central York who has helped me. But most importantly I want to thank Coach Steve and everyone in the Junior program for helping me to achieve my goals. Over this past year with the junior program I felt like I could be my truest self every time I came to the rink and I will forever be grateful for the friendships and memories that I have made”, stated an emotional Rose.

Known as a highly skilled, hard working player who plays with tremendous heart and sacrifice that helps to inspire everyone around her. Jodie was counted on to play against the top units from the other teams in the OWHL U22 Elite League night in and night out. She helped to anchor a strong defensive unit and added to the team offense with her creativity and decisions along the offensive blueline. Her leadership traits have helped to create a very inclusive and supportive team culture in the Panther dressing room.

The highly accomplished Head Coach of the Post University Eagles, Gretchen Silverman, has been watching Jodie’s progress as a Panther over the past year and is thrilled that she is joining her program.

Central York’s  Junior Head Coach Steve Dempsey is especially excited about this signing. “Jodie is an amazing person. Most people only see the player on the ice that works as hard as anyone and is a dynamic 200 foot player. But it is the behind the scenes stuff that really shows you the tremendous heart that she has. Jodie is always looking for ways to have a positive impact on her teammates and create a space in our dressing room that is highly inclusive. Her actions and the continuous development of her leadership skills has led her to be sought out by her teammates for guidance, counsel, or emotional support throughout the season. Her actions have helped to enforce the Panther first culture that we want here at Central York. We want good people that happen to play hockey and Jodie fits that criteria perfectly. You can’t help but cheer for Jodie because she epitomizes all that is good in sport. The Post Eagles are very lucky to have added Jodie and we are looking forward to seeing her excel in the NCAA”.

Jodie is scheduled to start the 2023-24 season at Post University in September 2023.
