The Central York Panthers would like to congratulate our 2025-26 Jr Panther Elizabeth Janovski on her commitment to play NCAA Division 1 women's hockey for the Providence College Friars. Elizabeth is a highly committed student-athlete that is excelling both on the ice and in the classroom. Elizabeth has really developed in all aspects both on and off the ice since coming to the Panthers three years ago. Elizabeth has worked tremendously hard to get to this point. We are so proud of her and excited to see her excel at the next level!

For Immediate Release

(February 11, 2026 Aurora, Ontario) – The Central York Girls Hockey Association are thrilled to announce that their 2025-26 Jr Panther Elizabeth Janovski has committed to play NCAA Division 1 women's hockey for the Providence College Friars for the 2026-27 season.

Elizabeth was a key piece to the Panthers High Performance program when she came onboard with the Panthers 3 years ago. She has been and continues to be a big part of our program's recent success. Elizabeth was key to helping us continue our highly successful offensive team play after we lost some key players to graduation several years ago. Her style of play has allowed us to continue to focus on a highly dynamic offensive system that has

helped our program be at the top in most offensive categories over the past 3 years in the highly competitive OWHA U22 Elite League. Elizabeth combined her ability to play a full 200 foot game with a high hockey IQ. This combination allowed the Providence Friars coaching staff to see what a great fit Elizabeth would be at the NCAA Division 1 level. Elizabeth’s drive and determination on the ice make her very hard to contain. She uses her skating and her work ethic to compliment the skills of her linemates. She takes pride in her work ethic and knows that this will be her pathway to success at the next level. Known as “Jano” to her teammates, Elizabeth plays with a passion and enthusiasm for the game that sets her apart from many.

When asked about her time here at Central York, Janovski stated, “I have sincere appreciation for the entire Central York Panthers organization. These past 3 years have been absolutely incredible. I have learned so much about hockey and about life. The learning was always wrapped up in a lot of fun times. Coach Steve runs a program built on strong principles of learning, respect for yourself, your teammates, the coaching staff, and our families. His leadership, along with the entire support and coaching staff, made my time on the ice so much fun, but even more importantly, it created the best team culture in hockey. Our team truly plays for each other during games and pushes one another to improve at practice both on and off the ice. Everyone loves being together, and a huge reason for that is this special culture. A special thank you to Coach Steve for trusting me to help the program over the past 3 years and over 100 Jr games. I want to thank Coach George, Coach

Pete, Coach Anna, and Coach Mark for all their hard work in keeping our culture strong and positive. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. #AlwaysAPanther”

Central York’s Junior Head Coach Steve Dempsey is very excited about this commitment. “Elizabeth was an easy pick for our team. She brought an ability to play hard on the puck at both ends of the ice, which we needed. You never see Jano come off the ice without a full effort left on the ice. She competes all the time and wears her emotions on her sleeve. She has a great deal of passion for her teammates and the Panthers and we will definitely miss that next year. I am really happy for her and I know that she will be highly successful at Providence.”

Elizabeth is scheduled to start the 2026-27 season at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. Good luck Jano!
